    Kristen Ashley(Author)
Leah Buchanan’s family has been in service to vampires for five centuries. Even so, Leah wants nothing to do with her family’s legacy. But when she’s summoned to her Selection by the Vampire Dominion, under familial pressure, she has no choice but to go.Lucien has been living under the strict edicts of the Vampire Dominion for centuries but he’s tired of these ancient laws stripping away everything that is the essence of the vampire. So he’s taking it back. This is because Lucien has been watching and waiting for decades for Leah to become available for a Selection and he will not be limited with what he can do with her. He will have her, all of her. Therefore, Lucien is going to tame Leah, even if he gets hunted and killed for doing it.What neither Leah nor Lucien expects is the strong bond that will form between them, connecting them on unprecedented levels for mortals or immortals. And what will grow between them means they will challenge their ways of life and their union will begin the Prophesies which makes them one of three couples who will save humanity…or die in the effort.

Kristen Ashley grew up in Indiana, but has lived in Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least), but loopy is good when you want to write. Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched). Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up. And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

Many reviews on this book and I am as usual late to the table. I love KA books and these I hadn't touched until now.Leah our female protagonist is the most obnoxious character (even more so than Jet). She comes from a long historical line of Concubines to the vamps, she should at least have a hint or basic knowledge on how things are done or even how to behave. But no Leah prefers to behave like an irritating child at the age of 40 and its just a little too much, its not cute and its not amusing. But poor old Lucien the 800+ vampire has been waiting in the wings for decades (maybe in the hope she might grow up) drooling into his cocoa at the thought of possessing her.Yes he lies, but its often by omission and as she really cannot be bothered to even understand the basics of the role she plays why should he even attempt to explain anything further. She is rude, opinionated and so judgemental. I think the line of "thrown out of vampire studies because I was writing my last will and testament" just about sums her up.He knows and understands what she means to him, his patience is I think tested beyond his limits but she refuses to see or even understand until it is all just a little to late when suddenly she has her light bulb moment.

I wasn't sure I fancied this series, mainly because I find vampire stories can get a little too complicated with all of the rules and legends vamps have to abide by, but it was a KA and a couple of reviewers mentioned alphas so I decided to go for it.Flip me this was good. It had all of the usual elements that make for an absorbing KA read - the reluctant woman won over by the protective, hawt, alpha, the jeopardy, the smut - but all set in a world where vamps live alongside humans, a world that seemed completely plausible and real thanks to KA' s writing.I have to give a special mention to the smut in this. The chemistry was hot, the romance sweet but omg the smut was off the page. For some reason the vamp feeding from their mate read like an incredibly sensuous, erotic experience; when the vamp was simultaneously feeding and bumping uglies with his mate....just read it, really, you'll see exactly what I mean! This is a complete story, but there is unfinished business so I'm reading on with the next book. Highly recommended.

Man I love Kirsten`s writing style and flow of her stories. First fell in love with her work after stumbling across Motorcycle Man (what an epic book) Anyhoo if I'm honest I'd been in a real book funk and nothing was doing it for me... so thought I'd look up some paranormal stuff and this juicy offering came up and how could I not.. I mean this lady never disappoints and true to form she didn't. This book had me hooked from early on and I knew I was hooked by the way I'd watch the clock at work, just counting the hours until I could get back to this beauty.Amazing and very likable characters, great plot and beautiful writing, mixed in with some steamy hot sex.. come on what more do you need other than book two in the series xxx

OMG.....I FLOVED THIS BOOK!!!! Yes, I shouted, it's that good!! I am a paranormal nut and over the last 30years have read and consumed most of everything there is to offer....what I absolutely love is finding new vampire lore, the culture and dynamics of a new world and this was just freaking awesome sauce, I was sucked in from the first page and I was so gone!! Lucien is the mighty vampire and Leah, his chosen concubine. I struggled initially with her being age 40 as a lot of her speech and characteristics placed her a lot younger, but it didn't take anything away from the story....after all, he was 822!!! Their journey was one of secrets and miscommunication, and at times I found her stubbornness tiring, but I suppose there would not be a taming without it. The side characters - Avery, Stephanie and Cosmo and Leah's mother and Aunt's were added bonuses. Lucien's family were also interesting reads.....but his Father, not so much, but there must an evil SOB somewhere!! The acceptance and claiming rounded of the story well and the epilogue with the prophecy has me chomping at the bit to read the next one, now!! This is my first Kristen Ashley book and I will be reading more, highly recommend!!

How did I not know about this K A book because seriously its a K A book, enough said, I haven't stopped reading since in started this morning. Kristen draws you in from the start when we meet Leah who is preparing for her Selection, she hasn't met Lucian yet but when she does he sets her panties aflame. It's a complex story about vampires but trust me it is so much more. Lucian maybe a vampire but he is alpha to the max, he has a bloody and violent past but Leah proves the exception in his life. You have to read IT to find out how their lives have intertwined over the years and to see if they have a future. I for one am going to buy book 2 now.

I loved this book! First book I've read by Kristen Ashley but it won't be the last.Fab new take on the vampire world, different to what I usually read. Lucien is the HOT vampire hero, who I fell in love with immediately. The power that he holds that comes across in the story just sucked me in from the very beginning since Leah uttered the words "Who's Lucien?" Apart from half way through I really wanted to kick his ass but he redeemed himself beautifully.Leah on the other hand I found hilarious! She's so sassy and has a smart mouth which I do like in the female leads. She won't be broken....or will she??Great read and looking forward to the others in the series! :)
